Sometimes by Covisky
Covisky’s “Sometimes” has a dreamy psychedelic intro that sets the mood. The vocals and band enter soon after, establishing a soft but groovy pocket. The vocals are soft and whispery, in the same vain as King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard, letting you enjoy a well balanced mix of the vocals, band, and dreamy synth foundation. Some of the guitar licks give a slight surfer rock tone, taking the scene to the relaxing beach sunset. The bass keeps the groove and motion through each section. The drumming work is simple yet effective at lifting the energy up and down without losing the steady movement, so it doesn’t break the trance. Although many of the elements are consistent to be trance-inducing, the chord progression changes in the middle of the song are smooth enough to be almost undetected but definitely keep the ears interested. The song finishes with a gradual decreased arrangement and a final bass note that gives a satisfying end marker. Covisky really shows off their fine musicianship in their performance and writing, and is recommended for fans of experimental jazz/funk fusion bands (like aforementioned King Gizzard & The Lizard Wizard), but also psychedelic bands and possibly shoe gaze fans as well.
